Stories
In Stories, we put the spotlight on the voices that shape QFFU: filmmakers, artists, lovers, fighters, and visionaries who open up their worlds to us. They give us a glimpse behind the scenes and under the surface.
Queer Film Festival Utrecht (QFFU) is a local film festival organized entirely by volunteers and dedicated to strengthening queer film voices by increasing their visibility. We screen both local and international films, organize Q&As, panel discussions, and practical workshops, and support emerging local queer filmmakers with the 10 Minute Challenge.
Theme: ‘Here, we are’
This edition, QFFU creates a space to reimagine the world around us. The festival does not see this as a personal action, but as a collective project: a radically new foundation that makes a dignified life possible for everyone. That foundation starts with imagination — and that is a power that can be trained. That is what QFFU and visitors are doing this year. Max de Valck, program director: “We are screening films that all take on this task in their own way. Film is the medium par excellence where imagination runs free and new worlds are revealed in which entrenched, outdated norms and values are broken down. As a film festival, we want to embrace these counter-voices. Dreaming is not naive, but essential for our future. That is what we want to show.”

QFFU would not exist without the support, trust, and cooperation of our partners. Together, we create a space where queer stories can flourish, be seen, and be celebrated. These are the people, collectives, and organizations that believe in our vision and help bring the festival to life.
