About Queer Film Festival Utrecht (QFFU):
Queer Film Festival Utrecht (QFFU) is committed to celebrating queer cinema and supporting emerging queer film talent. Our mission is to increase the visibility and recognition of the queer community in the film world. Since 2019, QFFU is the leading festival for LGBTQ+ (queer) cinema in Utrecht. Not only on the big screen but also beyond, we try to bring our message even closer to the people with an inspiring fringe program.
About the Ten Minute Challenge (TMC):
The 10 Minute Challenge has existed since 2022 and already has three successful editions. It is a short film competition aimed at emerging queer film talent. This competition offers emerging creators the opportunity to make their mark in the film world, regardless of the genre of their films. Participants can take advantage of valuable networking opportunities and in-depth master classes. The winning films get a spot on the big stage during the Queer Film Festival Utrecht (QFFU), giving emerging talent the chance to present their work to a wider audience and take their first steps into the exciting world of queer cinema.
Job description:
Queer Film Festival Utrecht is looking for a motivated and passionate Project Manager for The 10 Minute Challenge. As Project Manager, you will be responsible for developing, coordinating and executing this short film competition, where we offer budding queer filmmakers a chance to showcase their talent.
Responsibilities:
- Developing a thorough project plan for The 10 Minute Challenge.
- Making initial contacts with potential partners and participants.
- Advancing the long-term vision and mission for The 10 Minute Challenge, with a focus on sustainability.
- Analyzing and incorporating findings from previous years to improve the project.
- Finding and managing the TMC team that will focus on production and communication of The 10 Minute Challenge.
Qualifications:
- Preferably has previous experience in project management or similar (production) roles. Or is willing to further develop in this!
- Has excellent communication skills, both in English and Dutch. and has a creative and innovative spirit, and is able to develop new visions and ideas.
- Is enthusiastic about providing a platform for and supporting emerging queer film talent.
- It is a plus if you identify yourself as queer and have a strong affinity with the queer (film) community.
What we offer:
- A volunteer-based role with a volunteer stipend.
- A flexible part-time position. Starting in March 2025 with a few hours a week, increasing to some peak hours in the months of June, July, August and available full-time during the festival in early September 2025. Closing a few hours for completion in September & October 2025.

How to apply:
This role is voluntary with a volunteer stipend that will be paid out at the end of the festival. For this we require a commitment of an average of 1 working day or 2 evenings a week. This will become more towards the festival.
