The Festival
The heart and soul behind Utrecht’s most vibrant queer film festival, we are a collective of cinema buffs dedicated to showcasing the richness of queer storytelling.
We’re on the lookout for a PR and communications manager to help us spread the word about the festival and become more visible than ever. We’re quite the small team, so you’d be making a big difference. If you’re a queer film aficionado with a knack for effective communication strategies, then this your chance to shine!
The Gig
As the PR and communications manager at QFFU, you’ll work closely with Cosmin, our Head of Marketing Communications, to foster relationships with the media, influencers, and the public. Your efforts will be instrumental in generating positive coverage and increasing the festival’s visibility, reputation, and overall success. Working closely with our team, you’ll craft compelling narratives and strategies to ensure our message resonates effectively with our target audience.
This role is volunteer-based, with a volunteer compensation at the end of the festival, and a commitment of 4-6 hours/week, increasing leading up to the festival.
The Tasks
- PR Strategy: Develop a PR strategy that’s as bold and vibrant as our festival program, enhancing the festival’s visibility and impact.
- Media Relations: Cultivate relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influencers who can’t wait to shine a spotlight on our festival.
- Press Releases: Craft press releases that sing with excitement, announcing our film program, interesting events and new developments.
- Partnerships: Work your charm to build relationships with media partners, ensuring our festival gets the attention it deserves in pre-festival coverage and exclusive interviews.
- Media Monitoring: Track media coverage before, during, and after the festival to ensure effective communication.
- PR Reporting: Provide detailed reports on PR efforts, highlighting successes and areas for improvement.
The You
- PR Wizard: Whether it’s crafting a killer press release or orchestrating a press conference, you’re the master of PR magic. You have a good understanding of the media landscape, navigating it with ease.
- Compassionate Communicator: Your storytelling resonates with diverse audiences, bridging gaps with empathy and understanding.
- Independent Innovator: While you thrive in a team setting, you’re equally adept at steering the ship solo, thriving on trust and autonomy.
- Impactful Advocate: You’re fueled by a desire to create positive change through effective communication, shaping a brighter future for all.
The Us
- We’re all about that queer culture, bringing it to life in Utrecht and someday, the country.
- You’ll work with a team where everyone’s queer, creating a uniquely supportive and understanding environment.
- Flexibility is fundamental to how we operate — work remotely, on your schedule.
- We want to accommodate everyone, therefore our internal communication and working language is English.
- Growth and learning opportunities are around every corner, especially as QFFU, its members, and its needs keep growing.
- We’re not just colleagues; we’re a community, adding a sparkle to the struggle.
- We’re actively seeking to expand our team, not just in numbers, but in perspective; and will be prioritizing BIPOC applicants.
