The jury has made their decisions, the public has voted – it is time for the Award Ceremony! This is a festive, celebratory evening, which officially concludes the main trajectory of the 10 Minute Challenge.
During the ceremony, the jury are introduced to the participants and their choice for “Best Film” and “Emerging Talent” is announced, and awarded. Then, the results of the public vote for “Audience Favorite” is also announced and the award is presented.
We conclude the evening by screening the winning films and gathering all together for the last time in celebrating this year’s 10 Minute Challenge and its winners.
Joining us for a performance at the 10 Minute Challenge Awards Ceremony is VIXEN!
VIXEN is a queer, feminist rap duo known for their sharp lyrics laced with irony and a rebellious spirit. Though new to the scene, they’ve already made their mark with performances at venues like Tolhuistuin and Centraal Museum, as well as protests on the A12. Their music, rooted in trap and hip-hop, is driven by a love for 808s, jersey beats, and hard-hitting rhythms, delivering an infectious and playful energy that challenges the status quo.
The visuals for VIXEN’s set are crafted by Pensive Vivifier, an anti-disciplinary ensemble that merges digital and physical worlds through video art, performance, musical composition, and club culture. Their work, which blends humor, sampling, and music, tells personal stories of addiction, bullying, and love, creating intimate moments amid the overwhelming flow of information. Together, VIXEN and Pensive Vivifier push boundaries, explore polarized spaces, and connect content from all corners of the Internet to create a powerful, immersive experience.
The 10 Minute Challenge is a short film competition for beginning queer filmmakers. Following a program of masterclasses, the participants are encouraged to make their own 10-minute short films, which celebrate their premiere during QFFU and can win prizes in the categories ‘Best Film‘, ‘Emerging Talent’, and ‘Audience Favorite’. In 2024, the masterclasses are in collaboration with Studio Camera.
