Asunción, Paraguay. Chela and Chiquita, both from well-off families, have been a couple for more than 30 years. During this time, they have developed a fixed division of roles. Extrovert Chiquita is responsible for running the household and all things practical. Chela, on the other hand, prefers to spend the day at her studio, letting her mind wander and creating art.
At some point, their financial situation forces them to sell some of their inherited, beloved furniture. That endeavor is not as easy as it seems. When something goes horribly wrong, Chiquita is sent to prison for fraud. Chela is suddenly left alone and has to look after herself for the first time in her life.
She uses her old Daimler to provide a taxi service to the rich, elderly ladies in the neighbourhood. In her new role as a driver, she meets one of their daughters – the young, lively and inspiring Angy. The encounter lures the rather passive Chela out of her shell and helps her rediscover her desires.
