Exploring in Pink presents a mesmerizing selection of short films that delve into the realms of magic, memory, and identity. Each film gives its own meaning to queer exploration, from surreal imaginings of what could have been or can still be, to offering intimate glimpses into personal worlds. Ranging from fiction to documentary, and even blurring the lines between the two, this program invites viewers to experience a world where reality and fantasy collide in the exploration of self and society.
If I’m Here It’s by Mystery — Clari Riberio (Brazil, 22 mins)
New Rio, 2054. The renowned witch Dahlia arrives at the port with a mission: to establish the most powerful Clan that has ever existed and, thus, defeat the Order of Truth. In the future, many people are trans—but only a few are witches.
Wild Fruits — Bernardo Zanotta (Netherlands, 35 mins)
16th century: After a period overseas in the Antarctic France, Jean Aurand finds refuge as a servant in the house of French philosopher Michel de Montaigne, where a series of fantastical events change the lives of these two men forever.
Roya — Rosh Zeeba (Germany, 20 mins)
In Roya, Farsi for dream or vision, Zeeba uses video footage from their first trip back to Iran after leaving the country in the 1990s. The film revisits a road trip from Isfahan to Sari, where dream, memory, and reality blend into a multi-layered narrative that reflects on the politics of image production.
