Dutch Docs (SOLD OUT!)

August 31 @ 19:30

The Dutch Docs program spotlights queer documentaries produced in the Netherlands. In this edition, we’re screening four short films that explore the identities and experiences of diverse queer individuals both in the Netherlands and beyond. This evening, we’re honored to have the filmmakers with us to discuss these intimate works.

You can’t get what you want but you can get me — Samira Elagoz & Z Walsh (Netherlands/Finland, 13 mins)

A unique slideshow documenting the love story of trans men Samira Elagoz and Z Walsh. Over the course of a year, they capture real-life moments: their first kiss, meeting parents, long-distance thirst traps, a beach wedding, and top surgery recovery. A sweet and steamy celebration of T4T love, intertwining life and art.

Taboe Tabee – about being queer and muslim — BO Diversity (Netherlands, 15 mins)

Muslims in the LGBTQ+ community often face discrimination due to their ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation and/or gender identity. Binary thinking is persistent: you can either be queer or Muslim. But who are the people who are both queer and Muslim? What can they tell us—and teach us—about their culture, religion, and being queer?

FA-SCHÖN — Theodoor Adriaans (Netherlands, 25 mins)

Explore the vibrant world of queer semiotics in fashion with the captivating documentary, FA-SCHÖN. Follow a group of queer textile artists as they embark on a journey to create their own power suits—garments designed to unleash their personal power, whether through gender euphoria or the celebration of sexual and identity politics.

Declaring My Multitudes — Marijn Kuijper (Netherlands, 12 mins)
