Cinekid * QFFU: Shorts in Wilde Westen

August 28, 2022 @ 15:00 17:00

A special afternoon in Wilde Westen with various animated films from different countries curated by Cinekid. On this afternoon children’s book author Pim Lammers will also read from his work. Lammers wrote ‘Het lammetje dat een varkentje is’, a picture book about being yourself that addresses the theme of ‘being transgender’ in a light-hearted way. In addition, the craft studio will be open for children to do crafts between the films.

Films

Roekoekleuren (Switserland / 2018 / Animation / 7 minutes / Oana Lacroix)

In a large forest where single-coloured birds live, everyone has found his place in a tree that looks like them. But what happens when a bird has two colours?

Kuap (Switserland / 2018 / Animation / 8 minutes / Nils Hedinge)

A tadpole somehow misses out on becoming a frog and is left behind, alone. But there is much to discover in the pond and spring is sure to come again next year. A little story about growing up.

Tijgertje zonder strepen (Switserland , France / 2018 / Animation / 9 minutes / Raúl Morales Reyes)

A little tiger decides to take a long journey in search of his stripes. He dreams of having stripes and finally fitting in with all his friends.

Overboord (Czech Republic / 2020 / Animation / 12 minutes / Filip Pošivač en Barbora Valecká)

At first glance, Chameleon and Kiwi are a strange pair: While the former calls attention to himself with his changing colors, the molting and frightened Kiwi avoid attention at all cost. But when a storm robs them of the roof over their heads, differences no longer matter: Together, they must reach the wooden boat by the shore. But it’s not easy! The ark is for couples only, and Chameleon with his darting tongue and the cross-eyed Kiwi are definitely not a couple.

Luce and the Roc (Belgium / 2022 / Animation / 13 minutes / Britt Raes / Dutch)

Colourfully composed, geometric images tell the magical story of Luce, the only child in a small village, and of the friendship with a boulder. One day, it rolls off the mountain into the middle of the village’s community square. While the adults are at a loss, Luce discovers the child in a rock. Cinematic art off the beaten track, challenging and smart.
