10 Minute Hub: Liefdeslabels * Middernachtzon * Yulia & Juliet

The 10 Minute Challenge is a new film track of the Queer Film Festival Utrecht. It was set up to give young starting filmmakers an opportunity and platform. The challenge consists of the assignment to make a short LGBTQI+ film about the Utrecht 900 years theme ‘City without walls’ with a quirky perspective on celebrating queerness and Utrecht.
In total 9 talented makers submitted a 10 minute film. Spread over four days (23 to 26 August), each film team will get the chance to introduce and show their film to all Utrechters and Utrechters in the 10 Minute Hub in the Vechtclub XL.
An expert jury will judge the nine films and on 28 August the winner of this first 10 Minute Challenge will be announced at Villa Concordia.

Gay, straight, bi, pann or demi, the spectrum of love labels keeps expanding. How come? What do those labels mean to us? Why are there lovelabels at all? Isn’t love too abstract to be labeled? In this documentary essay we follow different young adults in their search for labels and the stereotypes associated with those.

After trying all the tips, tricks and techniques to fight insomnia, Ezra, desperate to fall asleep, decides to brave a night walk in the city of Utrecht. Out of delirium a strange sound starts to attract them. The decision to give into the desire to follow the sound will change their life forever.
Yulia & Juliet (NL / 2018 / 12 min / Zara Dwinger)
A very old story is put in a new jacket. In a youth delinquent centre Yulia and Juliet find each other. When one of them is allowed to go home, the other girl sees her life fall to pieces.
