10 Minute Award & QFFU Closing Night & MAXI
September 8, 2023 @ 18:30 – September 9, 2023 @ 01:00
*** NOTE: THIS IS A PRIVATE, INVITATION-ONLY EVENT ***
On September 8th, we will festively conclude QFFU’s short film competition, The 10-Minute Challenge, with an awards ceremony. Participants submitted their films at the end of July, and are now eagerly awaiting the jury’s verdict. All submitted films had their premiere on September 3rd, but three of the films will be shown again as they’ve won prizes!
This year there are three categories with corresponding prizes:
- Best Film: A unique trophy (designed by a Utrecht queer artist), a prize amount of €1,500, as well as a special screening at the NFF.
- Emerging Talent: A prize of €1,000 and a special prize for further talent development.
- Audience favorite: A special screening during Queer Cultural Sunday.
Our professional jury will be given the stage to announce the winners. All guests can then continue partying with the contestants at the QFFU Closing Night that starts at 21300 o’clock at de Nijverheid.
QFFU Closing Night with MAXI – 21:30 to 01:00
We would like to celebrate a great fifth edition together with you. You will be joined by the winners of The 10-Minute Challenge, as they will receive their prizes during the grand presentation before the start of the closing night. All the more reason to celebrate with the DJ’s of MAXI!
MAXI is an Utrecht based queer collective. They try to create a safe(r) space for LGBTQIA+ people and allies by organizing clubnights.
The QFFU team will also be present to look back on a successful edition. We have worked hard over the past year to make this edition happen, and we are only too happy to share that with you. Especially talk to us about your favorite film or side-program. Have you been to one of our movie tips? Don’t hesitate to tell us!
QFFU Closing Night is of course also a great moment for us to thank our partners, volunteers, guest speakers and visitors. With your cooperation, the festival takes the shape we are so immensely proud of.
